Marie Widger
Marie (pronounced "Marry") Widger joined us in March 2007 as our Schools and Community Education Officer. She studied for a degree in the History of Fine Art at Birmingham University and has worked for the National Trust as Education Officer at Dunham Massey and as Interpretation Officer at the Apprentice House at Styal Mill. She will be based within the Museum Service at Stockport Story and we look forward to hearing more from her as she gets established in her new role here with us at Mellor.
Marie's role is to promote enjoyment, active involvement, strong emotional relationships with, and a deeper understanding of what makes the archaeological site at Mellor so special, through education and interpretation.
She has developed a series of programmes focusing on the Iron Age, Roman, Medieval and Victorian aspects of Mellor using both ‘Living history’ to reachas broad a range as possble of people outside the classroom, although these have been designed to meet the Geography, History and Citizenship objectives within the National Curriculum.
