Meet the Team

Some of the many and various people who involved with the project, more will be added as we go along:
Ann and John are of course the key members and without them none of this would have happened. If it had not been for their keen interest in history, skill and experience in recognising the significance of the cropmarks and of course their more than generous goodwill in setting up the Trust and opening their garden, none of this would have happened!
Thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund, from 2007 through to the end of 2009 we will have two full time paid officers to lead and co-ordinate the project
Marie Widger joined us in March 2007 as Education and Community Officer
The Trust is also fortunate to have three active members from related professional services:
Frank Galvin who works for the Stockport Metropolitan Borough Heritage Service
Norman Redhead who is the is the Assistant County Archaeologist for Greater Manchester and is based in the Greater Manchester Archaeological Unit.
John Roberts who is a Senior Field Archeologist with the University of Manchester Archaeology Unit and has supervised our annual season of excavation since 2002.
from the University of Manchester Archaeological Unit for the last few years
Then we have a whole host of volunteers who have joined us from various professioal backgrounds and walks of life. Each one brings something different to the project but all share a tremendous enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoy having the opportunity to take a part in uncovering our past. Our team include:
Donald Reid who serves as both a Trustee and Archivist for the project, supervises and trains volunteers and now convenes the Archaeology Management Committee sub group.
Philip Day has grown from being an interested observer as he walked past the site to developing a whole range of Geophysics resources. Previously an Honorary Reader in Chemistry at the University of Manchester he also acts as Scientific Advisor to the Board of Trustees.
Miranda Galloway a Training and Development Officer, joined the team in 2002 after coming along to an Open Day and now regularly joins the excavation, works as a guide during the Open Weekend and serves on the Community and Education sub group of the Management Committee.
And here are some of the others who we hope to add soon
